Brain Type Test

Empathizing–Systemizing (EQ–SQ)

Based on Simon Baron-Cohen's Empathizing–Systemizing theory. This test measures two independent cognitive styles: a drive to understand and respond to others' feelings (E), and a drive to analyze and predict how systems work (S).

Empathizing (E)

The drive to identify another person's emotions and thoughts, and to respond with appropriate feeling.

Systemizing (S)

The drive to analyze, explore, and construct systems — identifying the rules that govern how things behave.

A note on framing. This test is sometimes labeled a "brain sex" or "brain gender" test, since researchers have observed average statistical differences between groups. However, individuals vary far more than groups do — your result reflects your personal cognitive style, not your gender or identity.

For self-reflection only. Not a diagnostic instrument.
